Do guns protect or kill people?

This is a commonly related to topic. To which extent are guns good and bad?

Let's start by saying that guns (according to Pew Research Centre) have killed (only in the US in 2019) a total number of 39823 people. This is actually a big number, however, another aspect to consider would be, how many civilians or inocent people would have died if it was not for those deaths?. Therefore, we beleive the real question should not be if guns protect or kill people, as, in the right hands, they are able to save millions of lives, but in the wrong hands, it could annihilate that amount easily. Therefore the real question should be; Can anyone that want a gun for protection reasons should be given one? and, more importantly, Does the end justify the means of gun protection?

Este es un tema recurrente en la sociedad actual. ¿En qué medida las armas son buenas y malas? Comencemos diciendo que las armas (según el Centro de Investigación Pew) han matado (solo en los Estados Unidos en 2019) un número total de 39823 personas. Esto es realidad un gran número, sin embargo, otro aspectos han de ser considerados, como; ¿cuántos civiles o personas inocentes habrían muerto si no hubiera sido por esas muertes?

Por lo tanto, creemos que la verdadera pregunta a formular no debería ser si las armas protegen o matan a las personas, ya que, en las manos correctas, pueden salvar millones de vidas, pero en las manos equivocadas, podría aniquilar esa cantidad fácilmente. Por lo tanto, la verdadera pregunta debería ser; ¿Alguien que quisiera un arma por razones de protección debería recibir una? y, lo que es más importante, ¿El fin justifica los medios en relación a el uso de armas como medios de protección? ¿Cual es tu opinión sobre este tema?
