Why do we lie?

I beleive humans lie due to two main reasons. The first is manipulation, or to get something that if you were to tell the truth we would not have gotten. On the other hand, the other main reason behind lying is because of fear of what would be the reaction of the person lied to. By this I mean, when we lie about our opinions on a film our friends love and we hate, for example, we are afraid of their reaction to us telling them that we do not like the film. We could ask ourselves, what if they stop talking to me about films now? what if they find out I have no movie taste?...

Creo que los humanos mienten por dos razones principales. La primera es la manipulación, o conseguir algo que si dijéramos la verdad no habríamos obtenido. Por otro lado, la otra razón principal detrás de la mentira es el miedo a cuál sería la reacción de la persona a la que se le mintió. Con esto quiero decir, cuando mentimos sobre nuestras opiniones sobre una película que a nuestros amigos les encanta y nosotros la odiamos, por ejemplo, tenemos miedo de su reacción cuando les decimos que no nos gusta la película. Podríamos preguntarnos, ¿y si dejan de hablarme de películas ahora? ¿Qué pasa si descubren que no tengo gusto por las películas? ...
